I'm not talking about Greeny & Golic. I'm talking Williams & Heimerdinger.

Mike Williams has dropped over 30 pounds in the off-season after being told by Jeff Fisher that he would be released if he did not get into shape. Williams says he is down to 242 and would like to drop another 7-12 pounds. Mike Williams has been the first one to arrive for off-season work outs and has seemingly formed a good relationship with Heimerdinger.

Williams knows he has run out of chances and if he doesn't get & stay in shape, he will never land another job with an NFL team. I have a nagging suspicion that he will do exactly what he says and if he gets into "playing shape", he may just be the number 1 receiver we have desperately waited for. He has a long way to get there but I believe that he has the size and speed to be a number 1 receiver in the league. For Mike Williams, the difference between great, average, and plain old bad is his attitude and work ethic.

Mike Heimerdinger on Mike Williams:
With a talent like that, I think any offense can use it, but he has to be in shape and he has to be able to run more than two outs in a row. Ive never been a guy that rotates a lot of wide receivers.
Right now he does some things that when you watch him, hes very talented. Hes got great hands and can run very well for a big man. Its is he in shape and can he do it consistently?

Kerry Collins on Mike Williams:
Its not a question of talent. Hes big guy, hes got big strong hands. Hes got all the tools. Its just keep getting familiar with what were doing and keep going in the direction hes going with his weight, and I think he can be a big part of what we do.

Note: Mike Williams has not caught a single pass since becoming a Tennessee Titan in week 13 of the 2007 season (i'm pretty sure it was week 13)

I'm looking forward to see what Williams brings to the table... Losing weight is the easy part.

He will either shine or be cut before the year is over. He has the talent and the only question left is can he make himself put in the work that is required to be a great receiver. He has shown in the past that he cannot but if he could get it together, the Titans would have a real threat on offense.
