Here's our chance to lock up Big Albert Empty
PostSubject: Here's our chance to lock up Big Albert   Here's our chance to lock up Big Albert EmptyFri Jun 20, 2008 12:14 am

I know a lot of Titans fans out there are really tired of talking about this, but I think what the bears just did really helps our Team a great deal in regards to helping get Albert Haynesworth locked up and onto the practice field. The Bears signed Tommie Harris to a four-year extension through 2012 worth approximately $40 million. Harris is a THREE time Pro-Bowler and deserves to be paid like one. By not locking him in to a 6 year deal, the club is spending more, but can opt out after the 2nd year and controls lots of options on the contract. I could totally see the Titans signing a similar deal with Albert... maybe a 4 year $38 million contract with a no-trade clause would work. We have the money and honestly we could use a "set piece" on the D line... Certainly his character issues (the one or two incidents on the field) would make any front office hesitant to invest that kind of dough, but a guy like that will get $40+ in the free agent market. This would be a great time for the Titans to make a move that makes everyone happy...

Honestly, I dont think the Titans' have anything to worry about when it comes to his Character... He's never had any off-the-field issues and is solid in the locker room. The Dallas game, I can understand what led up to it... I don't agree with it, but I understand it. I still think it would have been cheaper to sign him to a extention last year instead of allowing him to get into the last year of his contract and tagging him. If Haynesworth doesn't deserve the money... I have a hard time believing who would... and we still need to address Bironas and Stewart. With our great cap situation... the Titans' front office is come across frustrating to fans.

We definitely should have signed him last year. We have already gotten the best you will ever see out of Haynesworth. He will still be great but no like he was last year. Stewart is more of a concern to me because we can turn any halfway talented d-lineman and turn him into a superstar.

I love what Stewart brings to the table... the thought of solidifying our O-tackles at once is to good to pass up.
