Preseason lackluster Empty
PostSubject: Preseason lackluster   Preseason lackluster EmptySat Aug 23, 2008 2:33 am

The theme for the offseason, mini cams, and training camps score 6 in the red zone. Our passing game is lacking in several areas. Vince's accuracy, the receivers dropping 10 balls in one game. A rookie quarterback, making vince look horrible, and once again we are getting 3's instead of 6's.

It's a good thing we have a strong running game. Lendale, and company will be our heroes this season. I think we should keep Gaither, cut Chris Henry loose, along with most of our receivers, and bulk up on a couple great tight ends. Alge, and Scaife will be our leaders. Thats if the ball gets close to them.

I've always had faith in Vince, and I realize it is not all his fault. It's pretty bad when you have the announcers comparing Vince and Matt Ryans passes to the TE, and they say that Ryan was dead on and the NFL QB should be ableto hit it in his sleep.

I wish the guy luck, and I hope that the preseason is not indicative of what is to come. Thank god it is only preseason. There is still time to get going. If the offense gets going like our defense, we'll be in Tampa in Feb.

Go Titans, and let me know what you guys think.

I agree with your running back assessment, Chris Henry has shown a few flashes but never any consistency and I just don't see that he wants those extra 2 yards like Q does. On the passing game woes, I've supported Vince also, but lately I've began looking at him a little less through my die hard Titans fan eyes and I'm starting to see why every one has been so critical. I understand the receivers are dropping a lot of balls, there are a lot of timing issues, etc. But none of these change VY's mechanics. I knew all along he throws side arm and they probably couldn't change that. But throwing off his back foot, falling back, without his legs under him is sure not increasing his accuracy. I've defended him alot over the last 2 yrs when people criticized his performance, but looking back now - his "good passing games" are the ones where he just didn't do too many horrible things. There has never been a good one. I just hope Heimerdinger can work a miracle, because with what they have invested in VY, I think it will be a long time before they will give up, so I really hope he gets better. This defense & running game is too good to go no where. But some sort of a decent passing threat is going to have to emerge.

Remember he was an option QB at Texas and always in the shotgun so his transition is going to be harder than a lot of others coming into the league. A lot of your pre-snap reads, and mechanics come from being under center. Let's not throw him under the bus yet,he still has a chance to improve if he wants it bad enough and puts the work in. More consistency from the WR position would help as well.

Fellows I hope there's a rabbit in the hat for our offense. I don't want to be totally negative about our clubs offensive ability but just calling them like I see'em. In 15 days wer'e going to be playing the Jaguars. A much better club than wev'e played so far. If Vince and our receivers don't "Solve their problems" before then, it's going to be an opening day disaster for us. The defense can't stay fresh when they only have time to take a couple of gulps of Gatorade then run back out on the field after several 3 and outs or red zone stops. I heard there was a book out on Vince that the other teams had which show his tendencies and weaknesses. Heimerdinger has to change things before the Jacksonville game or else we'll start out 0-1 with a banged up Defense.

I like our running game but our passing game is missing one piece.....most people who are Titans fans know what I'm talking about.....A #1 WIDE RECIEVER!! I know that Jeff Fisher isn't hip to the idea of having a big time 1000 yard WR on his roster but there comes a time when you have to do what's best for the team. Anquan Boldin told the Cardinals he wants to be traded. Who in the NFL needs a WR more than the Titans? Give the Cardinals a 3rd rounder this year and a 3rd rounder next year and get Boldin catching passes in Nashville ASAP. I listened to him on the Dan Patrick show the other day and he said that he just wants to win.....he wants to play for a team who wants to win and who has a good chance to make the playoffs. I might be wrong, but that sounds like a WR who isn't gonna make a lot of trouble for a coaching staff and he's not gonna demand the ball all the time like some WRs in the league. He wants to play and he wants to win. Jeff Fisher wants to win but he doesn't have a reliable WR. Anquan Boldin is the one piece we are missing from becoming an elite team in this league. We have the defense, we have the running game, we have the leadership......let's get a passing game.....PLEASE Jeff? Please???

I would love to have Boldin,But still have this bad taste in my mouth from the last WR free agents we spent big money on(Yancy Thigpin,Carl Pickens,David Givins).

Titan4life, I understand your concern, however, SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE! I EXPECT more out of Justin McCareins, so he needs to step it up! And just because Yancey & Carl were injury-prone, doesn't mean every WR is! Anybody have the phone number of free agent Joe Horn, who IS consistent in health & production?

Henry looks to be the odd man out come the 29th.

I agree Titanpride and from what I've seen this preseason, I couldn't really argue with that decision.
